For Yuletide I received a lovely fic set in James White's Sector General universe entitled Tape Madness. It was a really fun read and just what I wanted. Thank you again to my Yuletide writer.

(I also apparently received a Yuletide Madness ficlet, but they haven't been revealed yet. But thanks to whoever wrote it in advance!)

Writer's Block: Tonight, tonight [24 Dec 2009|12:44pm]

If you celebrate Christmas, what will you do this evening? If you don't, will you still do something festive or is it just another night?

It's just another night for me. In fact I offered to go in to work, but I'm not feeling so great so I hope they don't call me (or that they understand that I can't come in if they do...)

I'm probably going to eat chocolate and watch the X-Files. That's festive, isn't it?

This is totally ridiculous but I've had better days than today and it just... caught my eye.

I just posted my Yuletide fic! What a relief. I really hope the recipient likes it.

Happy Chanukah to all my friends who are celebrating it. Under the cut is a lousy cell phone picture of my menorah, lit up for tonight, the fifth night.

(It's surrounded by some of the figures and such that I have on my dresser. And also a roll of tape. Oops.)

Writer's Block: Holiday blues [14 Dec 2009|05:44pm]

What is the most emotionally challenging aspect of the holidays for you? Do you enjoy this season more or less than you did as a child?

Well, I celebrate different holidays now. When I was a kid I celebrated Christmas, and I really loved the decorations and the tree and getting presents.

Now I celebrate Channukah and I generally try to keep it low-key, though I do buy presents for my daughter.

And I usually offer to work on Christmas if I'm not scheduled on, both for the extra pay and so someone who actually celebrates it can take it off. (I work in a nursing home.)

I think the most emotionally challenging aspect now is being alone.
